Welcome! You’ve been invited to compete in the newest high-stakes game show, Teens versus Zombies! We’ll drop you in the containment zone, and you’ll have to survive for two weeks against the invading zombies. Do YOU have what it takes to survive the zombie apocalypse?

We originally wrote this game while our library participated in the American Library Association's Thinking Money for Kids grant.  We wanted a game that would encourage people to think about not just the money they spend but also the relative value of the items they purchase. As a game of resource management and strategy, Teens vs. Zombies encourages players to spend their money wisely in order to survive for the full two weeks. Our teen patrons really enjoyed playing it, and the budgeting in the game didn't feel arduous to them.

When the ALA Games and Gaming Round Table announced the GameRT ALA Annual 2023 Game Jam, we decided to submit a nicer version of the game files for other librarians, educators, and would-be zombie slayers. We hope you enjoy playing!

Teens vs. Zombies is a game of resource management, strategy, and kicking zombie butt. Players will have a limited budget to buy supplies that they can use to survive over the course of two weeks. If a player dies, then they turn into a zombie and attack the remaining living players!

• Living goal: Survive the longest
• Zombie goal: Kill/turn the most people
